The data center market in Poland is worth over PLN 2 billion, according to a report by PMR analysts. The number of local companies opting to outsource IT services and implement cloud solutions is growing. This directly translates into investments in Poland by international tech giants as well as companies from the CEE region. In response to their needs, the developer 7R has decided to expand its portfolio to include data centers—data centers are one of the pillars of the company’s expansion strategy for the coming years.
As the global economy becomes increasingly digitized, the importance of IT and telecommunications infrastructure is growing. Data centers—which store data and provide computing power to cloud-based applications—are a key component of this infrastructure. According to experts, Warsaw is currently considered one of the most desirable locations for new facilities of this type in the Central and Eastern European region. At the end of 2020, there were 115 data centers operating in Poland, with the largest number—38—located in the capital. The list of global cloud providers investing in Poland includes, for example, Google and Microsoft.
Something new is coming
According to experts at DataCentrePricing.com, Poland will be one of the locations where part of the planned 850,000 sq. m of total European server space will be built. However, the data center segment is a demanding market sector that combines commercial real estate with critical infrastructure and the latest technological solutions.
Given the changes in data demand triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic and the growing importance of cloud services in nearly every industry and company, we expect the investment boom in the data center market to continue. That is why we are actively expanding our knowledge and expertise in this area. We aim to be a partner for technology companies and data center operators looking to enter the Polish market. At 7R, we have a land bank as well as the know-how to build technologically advanced, large-scale, and eco-friendly commercial facilities. We are also rapidly expanding our team of experts responsible for collaborating with tech giants and international data center operators to support clients in their investment plans in Poland.

Data centers are critical infrastructure, essential to the functioning of today’s economy and ensuring the continuity of digital services for the entire society. To fulfill this role, data center facilities are designed using the latest technological solutions and present investors with a number of challenges—both in terms of property location and facility construction. The most obvious requirement is meeting the enormous demand for electricity and ensuring the continuity of its supply, which can be a challenge for many investors.
